... from the Saudi King Abdullah, while the auto workers received a 20$/h pay cut.
From the web site of Michael Moore:
"They could have given the loan on the condition that the automakers start building only cars and mass transit that reduce our dependency on oil. They could have given the loan on the condition that the automakers build cars that reduce global warming.
They could have given the loan on the condition that the automakers withdraw their many lawsuits against state governments in their attempts to not comply with our environmental laws.
They could have given the loan on the condition that the management team which drove these once-great manufacturers into the ground resign and be replaced with a team who understands the transportation needs of the 21st century.
Yes, they could have given the loan for any of these reasons because, in the end, to lose our manufacturing infrastructure and throw 3 million people out of work would be a catastrophe.
But instead, the Senate said, we'll give you the loan only if the factory workers take a $20 an hour cut in wages, pension and health care..."
My emphasis throughout. But the words and the outrage they carry are deeply shared... And I'm sure that we haven't seen nothing yet. It is transparent now that the Republicans just want a irreversible transfer of wealth and influence in their favor from the American Government.
The Repugs convinced the middle class time and again that they were on its side with big tent appeal and snake oil remedy. I think when the middle class will wake up and see that the Big Boys Club have no intention to play fair or to let them join the fun, it will be way too late.
But somehow, they will blame it all on Obama. I guess the neonuts just hope that Obama will fail BIG TIME and that President Palin will make a "Real American" comeback and "save the day" when some of Obama's policies will start to effectively create a new economical environment.
The future is grim and none other than the Republicans are hoping that it will be grim enough for us to forget Bush as the major culprit and put the blame on something else than their insane misuse and savage destruction of our common institutions.
So what are we gonna do about it? Writing is great, and you do it well, but let's burn something. Seriously. All the talking in the world isn't doing anything. Something physical. Otherwise, this will be played out again in 2025, 2040, and so on.
ReplyDeleteIf Bush and Cheney get away with war crimes, what will you do?
